Why Jamie Lloyd Was Killed Off So Quickly In Halloween 6

Jamie Lloyd has had an even tougher time in the Halloween franchise than her mother. After anchoring the series for several installments, Laurie Strode's daughter was abruptly killed very early on in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. There were narrative reasons for this, of course, but it turns out that there are even more prominent factors contributing to actress Danielle Harris being erased from the franchise.

Jamie Lloyd has had an even tougher time in the Halloween franchise than her mother. After anchoring the series for several installments, Laurie Strode’s daughter was abruptly killed very early on in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. There were narrative reasons for this, of course, but it turns out that there are even more prominent factors contributing to actress Danielle Harris being erased from the franchise.

Despite wanting to reprise her role in the film, her character was quickly killed off to make room for other protagonists. One reason why is that the producers reportedly refused to pay the amount she requested. Harris also wasn’t a big fan of the script, much like the rest of the fanbase. The performer was then replaced onscreen by J.C Brandy and Jamie Lloyd was killed off almost immediately in the movie.

The studio didn’t think the character was necessary anymore following childbirth, either. Early versions of the script saw her falling into a coma after an attack by Michael, then being murdered by the Man in Black at the hospital. This isn’t what they ultimately wound up going with, but clearly Jamie didn’t stand a chance from the beginning.

Of course, Laurie Strode’s daughter was only created after Jamie Lee Curtis refused to reprise her role for Halloween 4. As the franchise continued to decline, Lloyd was taken out to make way for other characters. And while she may be popular with fans nowadays, she was pretty forgettable and/or disliked during her time onscreen. So much so, in fact, that she was completely erased from the cinematic universe in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and in the latest reboot.

Still, Danielle Harris is holding out hope that she can return to the series in one of the upcoming sequels. While nothing’s been announced as of yet, it would be awesome to see her honored in some way. She did give a lot to the iconic franchise, only to be treated so poorly in the end. Hopefully, then, she can finally get the closure she deserves in one of the many future installments that Jason Blum wants to make.

Speaking of which, Halloween Kills is expected to be released on October 16th, 2020, with Halloween Ends coming out one year later. Fingers crossed that they’ll both be better than Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers.
