Dante’s Inferno was a heck of a mess. The game itself wasn’t terrible, but the marketing surrounding it brought down more controversy than Grand Theft Auto and Duke Nukem combined. Dante’s Inferno had the honor of being the first video game ever advertised during the Super Bowl. EA also thought it was a great idea to do things such as send checks written in blood to video game writers and stage a fake protest outside their headquarters.
Well if one writer’s profile page is to be believed, we might be getting a sequel.
On a bio page for writer Joshua Rubin, who has formerly worked on Assassin’s Creed II, Rubin writes that one of his accomplishments is being the “sole writer for a Major Unannounced Sequel from Visceral Studios.”
Visceral Studios is, of course, the folks responsible for Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno.
Although Dead Space 3 is rumored to be in development as well, the possibilities are slimmed down when Rubin leaves a hint at the end of that line. The link leads to the Super Bowl commercial on YouTube for Dante’s Inferno.
That either means we’re getting a new Dante’s Inferno game, or that’s the most unhelpful hint in the history of hinting.
What say you, gamers? Would anyone play a sequel?
