While talking to THR, Vin Diesel has confirmed that a 7th Fast And Furious film will happen. Diesel explained that the scripts for Fast and Furious 6 and 7 are currently being written together by screenwriter Chris Morgan.
“With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space. We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages. The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’”
It’s no surprise that Universal are capitalizing on the highly successful franchise, which currently is one of the most popular action franchises still in development. Besides Diesel however, no other cast members have been confirmed for a return, but that is obviously because both projects are still in scripting mode. It seems very unlikely that at the very least, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson wouldn’t return.
Fast And Furious 6, which currently has Jason Statham rumoured to join the cast, will be released May 24th, 2013. While Fast And Furious 7, is said to be looking for release somewhere between 6 to 12 months after the release of Fast And Furious 6.
