Tom Hardy To Star In David Yates’ Cicero

Oh hey Tom! There you are, again! It seems like everywhere I turn there you are just popping up in another film. You've had a busy 2011 with Warrior and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (both of which were excellent by the way) and you also have a busy 2012 with This Means War, Wettest Country and The Dark Knight Rises. Now we're starting to hear about your future and what's this? You're set to play gangster Al Capone in David Yates' Cicero?

Oh hey Tom! There you are, again! It seems like everywhere I turn there you are just popping up in another film. You’ve had a busy 2011 with Warrior and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (both of which were excellent by the way) and you also have a busy 2012 with This Means War, Wettest Country and The Dark Knight Rises. Now we’re starting to hear about your future and what’s this? You’re set to play gangster Al Capone in David YatesCicero?

Yup, that’s right, the increasingly busy actor has just added another film to his list of upcoming projects. Tom Hardy will headline Yates’ upcoming gangster film as he will take on the role of gangster Al Capone. While he was rumored for the role a few months ago, it is now confirmed.

“I’ve been working with Warner Bros, watching their gangster films — the ones with James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart and Edward G. Robinson. It’s interesting to get them, and a bit of Capone, into the bloodstream. You look at pugnacious James Cagney in The Public Enemy and see how this guy rises up to become a kingpin in Chicago. The idea [with ‘Cicero’] isn’t to remake those films but to get a flavour of them as we explore Capone’s career as a racketeer,” said Hardy.

If anyone is right for the role of the over the top and larger than life gangster it’s Mr. Hardy. The man is a chameleon, giving a different yet always impressive performance in every film he’s in.

Hardy is unstoppable right now and will no doubt have an Oscar within the next 3-5 years. He’s one of my favorite actors currently working in Hollywood and I’ve loved all of his roles thus far.

The man has a bright future ahead of him and Cicero is just another step for him on the ladder to becoming an A-list star.
