Demon Slayer‘s 3rd season, which adapts the Swordsmith Village Arc, clocked in at 11 episodes total, the lowest episode count across all seasons. When the anime first aired in 2019, the opening season debuted with 26 episodes, adapting the origins of Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the Demon Slayer Corps. The 2nd season was split into two separate arcs — the Mugen Train Arc and the Entertainment District Arc — and comprised of 18 episodes overall. And finally, the 3rd season was scheduled to air with 11 total. But is Demon Slayer over?
In short, yes. The third season concluded on June 18, airing a 70-minute episode that caused Crunchyroll’s servers to crash due to the amount of viewers at once. Originally, it was thought that Demon Slayer would have a 12th bonus episode on June 25, but as we gathered from the actual season finale, “A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light,” there won’t be a need for another.
It wasn’t long after the finale that Demon Slayer was confirmed to have a fourth season in the early stages of development, which would cover the Hashira Training Arc. Since we’ve consistently gotten a new season year after year, we can rightly assume that the 4th season will drop some time in 2024, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves as these approximate dates are subject to change.
We would assume that if you’re reading this article, you’re already familiar with Demon Slayer as a whole, but just in case, the series was directed by Haruo Sotozaki and follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who strives to become a Demon Slayer after a blood-thirsty demon slaughters his whole family and turns his sister Nezuko into a demon herself. Tanjiro undergoes rigorous training to pass the Final Selection and become a full-fledged Demon Slayer, but he then finds himself at odds with Muzan, the first-ever demon and the Demon King.
