Satoru Gojo is undoubtedly one of, if not the strongest, characters in all of Jujutsu Kaisen, and as such it would take one extraordinary effort to take him out of play.

As manga readers will know, that extraordinary effort had taken place, and throughout the chapters of the series, Gojo was once stuck in a void called the Prison Realm with no means of escape.

While Gojo was seemingly absent, fans had questions about his fate strictly regarding his being in this realm. Back then, the biggest question was what possible way there was to get the sorcerer out and back into play alongside his allies.

He was finally released but then his fate afterward brought about new questions that are answered below.

What happened to Satoru Gojo after he was unsealed?

Well, Satoru Gojo at one time, was not dead in the Jujutsu Kaisen story, but was sealed within the Prison Realm. He was ambushed at Shibuya, and it was Kenjaku who sealed him away in the Prison Realm after exorcising Hanami.

Time does not pass within the Prison Realm meaning that theoretically, Gojo could’ve been stuck inside there forever. Furthermore, the seal would be broken when the person inside kills themselves, but Gojo never seemed the type to take this way out.

However, Gojo was indeed unsealed from that void and escaped the Prison Realm, thanks to his students. A challenge quickly ensued from there as he challenged Megumi, Sukuna’s current host to a duel, as laid out in chapter 235 of the manga series.

Gojo ends up being defeated by Sukuna and finds himself talking with his old friend Suguru Geto and his other late allies. The circumstances of Gojo’s fate are laid out in the manga’s chapter 236.
