Crunchyroll has just dropped the teaser for the RPG game, which allows players to become different heroes as they play through the world of One Punch Man, and it isn’t the third season that most fans have been wanting for years, but it’s something.
This is one of the most ambitious games to date from Crunchyroll, One Punch Man: World will serve as a free-to-play multiplayer action game developed by Perfect World Games, the company behind Tower of Fantasy and Persona 5 spin-off The Phantom X, and available for PC, iOS, and Android.
Fans can enter the world of Saitama and the Hero Association as they struggle to deal with the rise of monsters. An official announcement trailer was uploaded today showing gamers what they could potentially expect from the gameplay, ranging from monster battles to helping older women in arcades.
Many of the scenes from the trailer depict battles taken directly from the anime’s first season, such as Carnage Kabuto and Mosquito Girl; it also looks as if you can team up with other heroes to help take down these monsters. Along with fighting, it seems like you can take the time to explore Z-City as a hero, go for a run, or even simply catch the bus.
You can play as several heroes, including Atomic Samurai, Speed-O-Sonic, Lightning Max, Genos, and of course, the overpowered man himself, Saitama. The website allows players to look at what kind of moves they can perform during the game with each hero. There are plenty of ways to rank up throughout the game, such as fighting major battles taken from the anime’s first season but also through side quests littered throughout the city.
Of the game, Crunchyroll Games general manager Terry Li says:
“The most ambitious Crunchyroll Games title to date, One Punch Man: World is an immersive online action game that transports players into the universe of One-Punch Man. The game, developed by Perfect World, brings iconic characters and abilities to life with premiere production values that we are excited to unleash on anime fans and gamers.”
The release of this One Punch Man game excites us for the anime’s third season, which was announced in August of last year. Currently, though, the release date for said season is unknown.
Pre-registration is available on the website, with the free-to-play game expected to launch sometime this year.
