Warner Bros. /New Line Cinema have announced Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, starring Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine, for Blu-Ray in June.
Originally, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island sounded like one of those weird sequels that somehow sounded like a good idea to studio executives. I had no idea the first film made enough money to warrant another and I don’t recall anyone really liking the first one, kids or adults, but they still went ahead and signed Dwayne Johnson. Coming off of the highly successful Fast Five, Johnson joined Michael Caine, Luis Guzman, Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Hutcherson for another 3D family adventure.
And it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. It was actually kind of fun, making good use of the 3D and providing enough silly laughs to entertain even the children. It also managed to catch fire at the box office and bring in a current total of $313 million dollars. That’s a lot of coin for something like this.
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island will be presented in 2 options on Blu-Ray. The first is a 3D Blu-Ray combo pack that comes with 3D and 2D versions of the film on Blu-Ray, as well as a DVD and Digital Copy. The second package comes with the 2D Blu-Ray plus a DVD and Digital Copy of the film. Both packages will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track.
The following special features have been confirmed:
- Are You Strong Enough to Survive Mysterious Island feature

- Gag reel
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island will be available to own on June 5th, 2012.
