Millennium Home Entertainment has announced the Oren Moverman directed cop drama Rampart, starring Woody Harrelson, for Blu-Ray in May.
There were a few performances that somehow got overlooked at this past Oscar event and one of them was Woody Harrelson‘s work in Rampart. He played one of the most corrupt and self-destructive cops on screen since Training Day. His performance was moving and not a single nomination was thrown his way. The film in general was kind of all over the place, with some of the character work being really strong, but most of the direction going nowhere.
It’s a shame too, because Rampart could have been one of the best films of the year, instead it’s just a misguided cop drama with a flat ending. Still, it’s a fun ride watching Harrelson go all the way to the depths of Hell and back.
Our very own Jeff Beck had this to say about the film in his review.
Rampart doesn’t end up having as much emotional punch to it as The Messenger did, mainly because it feels as though the idea was not thought out to completion.
The Blu-Ray will be presented in a single disc package or a Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. The following special features have been confirmed:
- Interviews with cast and crew
- Behind-the-scenes featurettes
Rampart will be hitting shelves on May 15th. 2012.
