Fox has announced the George Lucas produced film, Red Tails, for Blu-Ray this May. The film follows a group of African-American pilots in the Tuskegee training program during WWII. The film stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Gerald McRaney and David Oyelowo.
Despite his best intentions, legendary filmmaker George Lucas produced and had a heavy-hand in directing one of the most disappointing films of the year so far. Red Tails is just a bad film, from head to toe. The dialogue is atrocious and the directing ranges from soap-opera bad to passable. The message the film tries to deliver is a good one and a very important one, but the execution is just lazy and lacking.
Our very own Karen Benardello had kinder words to say about the film in her review.
The actors’ convincing portrayals and realistic bond with each other, along with the spectacular visual and sound effects created by Lucas, makes the film feel genuine and powerful.
The Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack will be presented in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The package will come with the following special features:
- Double Victory: The Tuskegee Airmen at War documentary
- Five behind-the-scenes featurettes
Red Tails will be available to own on Blu-Ray on May 22nd, 2012.
