Video games rarely translate well into proper films and yet Sony took a stab at Silent Hill some six years ago. Fast forward to the present and we’re finally given a 3D sequel, only this time none of the original characters are returning, aside from a brief appearance by Sean Bean.

I’m not sure who thought they could profit off a dormant series that never gathered that much success when it first bowed in theaters but the result was bad and I mean really bad.

Silent Hill: Revelation might be one of the most forgettable films of 2012 or perhaps one of the worst. The horror elements are completely robbed due to a story that doesn’t really make sense and 3D that serves no real purpose. There have been worse horror films out there, but Silent Hill: Revelation takes the cake for being a pointless endeavor.

Our very own Matt Donato had this to say about the film in his review:

It’s a shame Silent Hill: Revelation suffers the same doomed fate as most modern horror movies, bumbling through a shockingly disconnected screenplay which strings together moments that could have been salvaged otherwise.

The film will be coming to Blu-Ray 3D and 2D next month, with not a single real piece bonus material confirmed, aside from the usual DVD/Digital Copy bundle that is present on most combo packs. I’d at the very least expect a 1080p video transfer and some sort of 5.1 lossless audio track.

Silent Hill: Revelation will be available for purchase on February 12th, 2013.
