Universal Studios has announced the Seth MacFarlane-directed R-rated comedy Ted for Blu-Ray, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.
Seth MacFarlane has finally crossed over into films with his directorial debut Ted. In the movie, he stars as the foul-mouthed teddy bear that smokes weed all day with his best buddy played by Mark Wahlberg. The film also co-stars Mila Kunis as the fed up girlfriend that wants to break up the relationship between Wahlberg and MacFarlane.
Ted is basically a continuation of MacFarlane’s Family Guy stuff onto the big screen, with some jokes hitting real hard, but most falling flat to the ground. It’s a mixed bag film that will cater to specific audiences. I didn’t find it all that moving, but I’ve certainly seen much worse.
The film did earn a lot of money for the studio, so expect a sequel or two in the near future.

I enjoyed and laughed at Ted, but I can’t say I liked it; MacFarlane lacks focus, the jokes are occasionally offensive, and though the movie has heart, it bungles whatever message it’s trying to get across.
Universal will be bringing the film to Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray/DVD/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack. No tech specs or special features have been announced, so stay tuned for more information regarding those.
Ted will be released on December 11th, 2012.
