Alec Baldwin might have just made James Corden, dare we say, proud.
The actor, who just finished filming Rust following the highly-publicized on-set tragedy he was involved in, has apparently shown his lack of anger management yet again. Baldwin’s tantrums are legendary and too many to list here, though his 2018 fight over a parking space in midtown Manhattan is a good starting place for anyone who dares read up on his uncontrolled fury. (That case was settled last year.)
Last night, Baldwin attended the 2023 PEN America Spring Literary Gala and, as it now appears, he may have utilized a more derogatory form of verbal literature while being expressly irate at his female server. Page Six reports that it had an insider at the event, who described an unfortunate interaction between Baldwin and said server.
Baldwin allegedly got up to speak to someone at a nearby table, and shortly thereafter, servers emerged from the kitchen to bring out food for the gala’s guests. The tight spaces between the tables meant that getting by Baldwin, who was still standing while talking to people at the table, was a challenge. As the insider explained, “Then, when [the server] could pass, she started putting plates on the table. I guess he didn’t like that she did that with him standing there.”
Baldwin, 65, then started “scolding her,” according to the source at the event, who also pointed out that Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria, was not at the table at the time of the incident despite also being in attendance. The server, who is reportedly in her ’20s or early ’30s, appeared shocked and was noticeably upset over Baldwin’s anger and was heard saying to someone afterwards, “I don’t know why he yelled at me.”
The server apparently kept things professional, both in the moment and for the rest of the gala, as nothing further occurred and the event continued without a hitch.
For the server’s sake, we’re glad she didn’t also take Baldwin’s parking spot.
