A new comedy being developed called Riff Raff has one hell of a stacked cast. It features Brian Cox (Succession), Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus), Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man), and Gabrielle Union (The Inspection).
The movie will be based on a script by actor John Pollono and will be directed by Dito Montiel (Empire State), per Deadline. The movie is about “a former criminal’s ordinary life which is thrown upside down when his old family shows up for a long-awaited reckoning.”
Coolidge is hot off an Emmy win for The White Lotus and Cox’s career continues to shine with his role in Succession and as the voice in those McDonald’s commercials. While we haven’t seen too much of Hoffman as of late, he’s a legendary actor with an incredibly strong pedigree. He’s working on a comeback of sorts with upcoming roles in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis and Kung Fu Panda 4.
Union’s next movie is called The Perfect Find on Netflix.
Signature Films’ Marc Goldberg is shopping international buyers for the film during the Cannes Film Festival. He said he loved the movie and couldn’t be more excited to bring it to fruition. “We are thrilled to partner with the producers and Dito on this project; we’ve loved it ever since we’ve read it. It embodies the type of crime comedies we grew up with – witty and entertaining. Not to mention the perfect cast that will bring these colorful characters to life.”
Riff Raff begins filming later this year in September. We’ll keep you posted.
