Donald Trump tries to embody a real-life ‘Star Wars’ villain by hoping the Force is with MAGA Republicans

Trump loves Star Wars!

When you think about former President Donald Trump, what comes to mind? Is it Star Wars? No? Well it doesn’t matter because Trump decided to shoehorn the connection in a fun and concerning example of “extreme pandering.” Isn’t that fun?

Over on Trump’s failing social media site Truth Social, which has the most ironic name ever, he “rethruthed” (that’s MAGA for reposted) a photo featuring a whole lot of Trump flags. The reason why people love to wave these flags is always so confusing, don’t their arms get tired? Wouldn’t you want to say “well, everyone else has a flag, so I won’t need one?” One of life’s mysteries, I guess.

Here’s the coup de grace: the caption is “May the Force Be With Us!” Is nothing sacred? Does everything have to be viewed through the lens of politics? What’s next, Bud Light? Take a look.

To be clear, Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, does not reciprocate the love for Trump. He recently called out the Orange One for not being able to spell the word “truly.” Also, this is (unsurprisingly) just one instance of Trump co-opting the Star Wars culture to pander.

Back in May of 2020, during Star Wars day, he released a video desperately trying to get a piece of the moment with a crappy edit from the climax of Revenge of the Sith. It’s the Order 66 scene after Palpatine orders the Clone Army to murder all the Jedi they used to fight alongside.

In the clip, Joe Biden is Darth Sidious. See, isn’t flag-waving and making everything about politics fun?
