Even Donald Trump’s potential impending arrest can’t seem to save Ron DeSantis

In light of all the chaos surrounding Donald Trump‘s potential impending arrest, the former United States president appears to still have an advantage in the polls over his competition, including Ron DeSantis.

As previously reported, Trump announced last week on his social media platform Truth Social that he would be arrested in New York on March 21 for his alleged involvement in paying off adult film star Stormy Daniels in an attempt to keep her quiet about their alleged affair. Despite Trump’s claims, no official statement was released.

When the fateful day quickly approached, and no arrest was made, a GOP presidential poll from the Morning Consult showcased the 76-year-old was leading the pack with 54% percent of the votes. At the same time, DeSantis, who has yet to announce his presidential run, trailed behind with 26%. Although it is unclear what caused DeSantis to lose by 28 percentage points, The Hill reports that the Florida governor’s recent score is the “lowest” he has had in a survey since last December.

As the news circulated online about DeSantis’ poll defeat, Trump subtly mentioned the scores on his Truth Social account by reposting an Interactive Polls upload featuring the pair’s past and present results.

In addition to DeSantis’ low score in the recent GOP presidential poll, the 44-year-old appears to be having a tough week from the standpoint of social media users. It has been reported that DeSantis’ alleged presidential aspirations were used as a tactic to troll Trump on Truth Social. The phrase #DeSantis2024 was trending on the social media platform the same day Trump was reportedly scheduled to be arrested.

Despite all the headlines, DeSantis has decided to not address the situation.
