Rebooting the DC Universe for what feels like the umpteenth time is no small task for James Gunn, who has been entrusted with getting a sleeping giant to finally hit its stride in a shared canon. Among Gunn’s starting lineup for heroes and villains is Booster Gold, but fans have already made it clear they don’t want Chris Pratt anywhere near it.
Yes, the same man who seems destined to play every animated character on the face of the planet open to the idea of playing the 25th century maverick superhuman. Pratt, who is currently on promotional duties for both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, spoke to Rolling Stone about his future, and name-dropped his interest in potentially playing Mike Carter.
Pratt told the outlet that “if James [Gunn] thought I was right for it, then you know that would I would have to consider it,” although it doesn’t sound like there’s been any concrete talk of casting the former Parks and Recreation star in the upcoming comic book adaptation just yet.
The rise of Pratt to become a bona fide movie star is quite something to witness. After losing a considerable amount of weight to play Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, he went on to get the lead role in the Jurassic World trilogy, while also making his way through action flicks and series like The Terminal List.
The actor isn’t quite as universally popular as some of his Marvel co-stars, especially for misdeeds in his personal life, as well as his alleged support of anti-LGBTQ+ church Hillsong, under its affiliate Zoe Church.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to release in cinemas May 5.
