Forget Bluey, Snoop Dogg dubs himself entertainment’s top dog

We're forgetting one more influential dog in pop culture.

Your grandparents grew up with Huckleberry Hound. Millennials grew up with Blue from Blues Clues. And the next generation of children, and perhaps some younger millennials at heart, are taking lessons from Bluey. History is filled with historical cartoon dogs that aided children throughout their childhood. But it seems there is one more blue dog that we’ve forgotten. And that dog’s name is Dogg, Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg shared an image, where he included himself with a list of iconic blue dogs that were known to “guide the generations.” Images like this already existed when Bluey started to rise in popularity and people noticed a trend. However, it seems like Snoop Dogg was insulted that he wasn’t included in this list and decided to take matters into his own hands and reminded everyone that he too is eligible to be on this group of “influential dogs.”

I don’t know about you, but I believe that Snoop Dogg should be added to this list. No, he’s not a sentient talking dog, but no one made the criteria for this list in the first place. And let’s not forget, Snoop Dogg launched a children’s web program called Doggyland, a show to make rap fun and educational for kids. He even has his own “Dogsona” named “Bow Wizzle.” And guess what, he is an animated dog. So that should give him an automatic ticket to be added to this list.

But let’s disregard Doggyland for a second and talk about what he’s done as a rap artist that could qualify him to be added to this list. Snoop Dogg is highly recognized by millennials and has collaborated with multiple artists, such as Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams. He also helped pave the way to make K-pop cool in the west after he collaborated with Psy on the song, ‘Hangover.’ Then later, he was featured in a BTS song, titled ‘Bad Decisions.’ He even collaborated with public speaker and American entrepreneur, GaryVee, to release a song to encourage people to hustle and never give up.

Snoop Dogg is a pretty interesting character, both as a person and as an artist. And while people could look towards his controversies and claim that he shouldn’t be included. I believe Snoop Dogg should be included in this list of influential blue doggos. Yes, his methods may be questionable, but it’s no better than Blue who makes people solve puzzles to fix a problem. And don’t get me started on Bluey.
