If you’re part of the special group who loves fashion icon and legend Jean Paul Gaultier as well as pop music sensation and hip-truther Shakira, then boy do I have something fun for you. The Colombian crooning Queen posted a video from what looks like the heart of Gaultier’s enterprise and people are eating it up.
“With Julien Dossena and the wonderful team of @JeanPaulGaultier visiting the atelier #tiktokfashion,” she said in the caption. An altier, by the way, is a workshop or a studio used by an artist or a designer, which is something I had to look up, but fancy!
Julien Dossena (you already know this, but just in case) is the latest guest hot designer to join the ranks at Gaultier. Per Vogue earlier this year, Dossena is the “fifth guest designer to present a couture collection” for the storied designer.
That means we get a little sneak peek at what’s going on over there, courtesy of Shakira, who just yesterday made waves with her Viktor & Rolf trench coat that prominently featured the word “NO” across her chest. It’s Paris Fashion Week, why not right? The same coat, by the way, that Queen J Lo herself wore in 2018. Is it a Latina thing?
As for the video, it’s 25 seconds of fashion bliss and a snippet of what’s happening over there in Paris this week. There’s a shot of some sketches lined up on a wall, we get to see Dossena in a casual black T-shirt showing Shakira all kinds of hairstyles and clothing racks, and of course, a Shakira song sountracking it all.
Then they embrace and it cuts to some big to-do with a huge Gaultier sign in blue neon. If this is your kind of thing, what’s not to love?
