Perhaps no one has seen their star fade quite as quickly as Jonathan Majors, who made his first court appearance today regarding domestic violence charges against his ex-girlfriend. The appearance was a pre-trial hearing to figure out a trial date, which was eventually set for Aug. 3. However, something else is capturing everyone’s attention: Majors’ current girlfriend’s handsy demeanor during the trial.
Majors is dating actress Meagan Good, and she was exceptionally affectionate during the proceedings. This rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Majors was arrested in March after his former girlfriend was taken to the hospital for “minor injuries to her head and neck.”
He was charged with a few counts of assault and harassment. Sure, we expect a girlfriend to be supportive, but people are taking issue with just how supportive she’s being. Take a look:
“Standing by your man is one thing, but being this supportive while he’s on trial for assaulting a woman is a new low,” one commenter said.
Here’s another take:
Good is getting dragged. “Can people stop saying this is for press and accept Meagan Good loves an abuser?” someone said. “Why not both?” someone else replied to that.
Others claim she is ruining her career. “Meagan Good throwing what’s left of her career down the drain because of a man is exactly what I expect from a former wife of a preacher and motivational speaker,” one commenter said. People are really going at her:
“Imagine going with your new boyfriend to his domestic violence court date within the first two months of your relationship lmaooooo Meagan… sister… stand up.” By the way, Good is a 41-year-old actress who’s appeared in movies like Anchorman 2 and Shazam! 2. She was previously married to Columbia Pictures executive and Seventh-day Adventist preacher DeVon Franklin. They divorced in June of last year.
There are a lot of perplexed people out there.
Majors’ lawyer Priya Chaudhry continued to espouse his innocence in court.
“Within a few weeks of these false allegations, we provided the district attorney with evidence of Mr. Majors’s innocence. Last week, we delivered additional compelling evidence to the District Attorney, clearly proving [the woman’s] assault on Jonathan Majors and not the other way around,” Chaudhry said. “This evidence includes videos of [the woman’s] frenzied attack on Mr. Majors and his running away from her. We also provided photographs illustrating the injuries she inflicted on Mr. Majors and photos of his clothing torn as a direct consequence of [her] violent actions.”
Majors and Good have reportedly been public with their relationship since May.
