Anthony Mackie may have been speaking the truth when he became the first major Marvel Cinematic Universe figure to comment on the ongoing Jonathan Majors situation, but a bombshell new report has nonetheless poured more fuel on the fire after several former colleagues came forward to speak out on their experiences.

To say Rolling Stone may have opened another can of worms is putting it lightly, but the people the outlet spoke to have seen both sides of the story emerge regardless. While there are several who’ve outed the actor as a physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive presence, there are others who staunchly refuse to believe such stories would emerge around a person they know on a personal level.

As part of a three-month investigation, the outlet talked to upwards of 40 people familiar with Majors, one of whom declined to comment by saying “my only response can be that I am silenced by an NDA he had me sign,” which doesn’t paint the most encouraging of pictures.

On the other side of the coin, though, the only person who allowed their identity to be revealed – Haley Carter, who Majors dated as a teenager – had nothing but positive things to say of the Creed III star.

“After 20 years of knowing him, I can tell you who Jonathan is. He did not do these things. He is exactly the opposite of what these allegations say. Jonathan is the most self-controlled, disciplined, well-mannered person I know. We all call him ‘the peacekeeper.’ He is not violent in any way.”

As always, Majors is innocent until proven guilty, but the damage has already been done to his career after he was dropped from several campaigns and projects, with his return to the courtroom imminent to face the initial charges that lit the touchpaper.
