It’s got to be a really special moment for a musician when one of their songs is featured in a mega popular franchise. but we never get to “see” the artist experience the moment – until now. Florence Welch from the rock band Florence and the Machine recently shared an emotional video of herself watching the song “Dog Days Are Over” get played in The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Welsh posted a video on TikTok of herself sitting in a comfy chair alternating between sobbing and laughing at hearing her song in the film. She said the moment was exceptionally special for her.
“So I cried all the way through this movie but when the The Guardians of the Galaxy started dancing to ‘Dog Days’ I really lost it,” she said in the caption. “Thank you so much for all the love for this moment. The superhero obsessed little girl in me can’t believe it happened.”
At points she clutches her chest and in others she laughs but it feels genuine, and perhaps that’s why it’s getting so much attention, and has garnered millions of views in just one day. Without giving too much away, the scene involves several characters in the film, along with residents of Knowhere, dancing to the song in a climactic moment in the movie.
The band, known for hits like “You Got the Love” and “What the Water Gave Me,” are one of the biggest rock bands in the world. The “Dog Days” song is from its first album Lungs. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in theaters now.
