In our nostalgia-fueled world today, no one person, place, or thing is ever out of the spotlight forever. As long as you or a thing can be remembered, people will discuss you. It is why Michael Keaton recently returned as Batman in The Flash and why some are concerned about Ricky Martin’s personal love life.
For those unfamiliar, the Puerto Rican singer, actor, and songwriter first blew up as a member of the boy band Menudo before embarking on a very successful solo career which made headlines in the 1990s and early 2000s. He was seen as a heteronormative sex symbol in popular culture at first before coming out in 2010 — when such a thing became more broadly accepted — and married Swedish painter Jwan Yosef in 2017.
Through the years the pair spent together they had multiple children and Yosef stuck by Martin when now-debunked claims of child abuse surfaced. They appeared happy, but, as a new article from the Associated Press reveals, for some time they have wanted to shake things up and now are doing so.
“’For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children.”
More information is not available at this time and the article goes on to say they are focused on remaining friends and doing good by their children. The story was first reported on by People and, apart from this development, Martin is set to appear in the Apple TV Plus drama Palm Royale. He is also countersuing a nephew of his who previously accused him of misconduct for more than $20 million.
