Seemingly untouchable movie star Jonathan Majors saw his reputation take a hit when he was arrested on charges of assault against his girlfriend on March 25. He’s been trying his best to control the narrative, and now his lawyers are saying he was the one that called police over the altercation.

The actor’s girlfriend filed a complaint that Majors strangled, harassed and attacked her. The argument supposedly started over Majors possibly messaging another woman and escalated from there. According to ABC7, Majors called 911 to say he was concerned about his girlfriend.

When police got there she told them something different – that Majors attacked her in a cab when they were going home from a Brooklyn bar. Police noticed marks on the girlfriend and arrested Majors but he was released shortly afterward. Majors has claimed his innocence and claims he’s the real victim.

His lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said they have video evidence that will clear his name and have “all charges dropped immediately.” Here’s her statement, per The Wrap:

“This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations. All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever.”

Majors’ career is one of the hottest in Hollywood right now, and this arrest is a dampener on his reputation and could affect what roles he gets moving forward. Or, it could all go away. You never know how things are going to play out until they do.

The statement also claimed that police had no choice but to arrest Majors.

“Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested.”

We’ll keep you posted.
