A lot is happening in Kanye West‘s world right now, and most people can’t keep up. Yet despite all the political mess he’s gotten himself into, the rapper and fashion designer still has a lot of smoke for Adidas, as evidenced by his most recent trademark application. Expert sleuths on Reddit have reported that West has recently trademarked YZY sock shoes. Only Ye knows what will come of these, and what is clear is that Adidas has its hands full.
Due to its high-profile separation from the controversial rapper, the sportswear brand reported a decline in sales but better-than-expected profits, as reported by Sky News. The decision to cut ties with West — who may be the next president of the United States — left Adidas with a mound of unsold Yeezy stock worth $558M, the company said in March.
Speaking of West’s political ambitions, West’s informal 2024 presidential campaign has gotten off to a contentious start, as one would anticipate. The rapper’s campaign treasurer Patrick Krason quit on Monday. In a letter acquired by Politico, Krason stated that campaign adviser Milo Yiannopoulos may have been a bit shady with finances by submitting “falsified invoices and for expenditures that would be deemed unlawful” in 2022.
Even though Ye ran for president in 2020 and got no more than 60,000 votes globally, he doesn’t need all this trouble for his allegedly future bid. However, if he is again unsuccessful in running for public office, he could take comfort in supplying the nation with shoes and his ongoing spat with Adidas.
