Lil Nas X’s cheeky photobomb at the Met Gala is causing a hilarious uproar on Twitter

Well, that's one way of stealing the spotlight.

The 2023 Met Gala came and went yesterday, but the impact it left behind will last fur-ever.

Of course, we’re talking about the endless cat outfits that graced the red carpet, effectively putting the feature film Cats to absolute shame. Chief among them was Lil Nas X, who blinded all those in attendance with his sparkly silver body paint and head-to-toe rhinestones. The look was utterly iconic. However, if you’re the person getting photobombed by his backside, it was more cheeky than anything else.

Never content with just a simple photo or two, Lil Nas X posed for an entire exposé on the red carpet, ooh-ing and ahh-ing (or should we say meowing?) as he bared it all for the sake of fashion. Sadly, those with less eye-popping getups — like, say, Lauren Santo Domingo — were overshadowed by the rapper’s glam, forced to reconcile with a stream of camera flashes that had nothing to do with them. And an unfortunate photobombing session from Lil Nas X’s not-so-little cheeks.

Indeed, the image looks photoshopped, like something a prankster with too much time on their hands might create. The reality, however, is that it is very much real and very much an accurate depiction of the night’s events. Unfortunately for stars like Domingo, their nights will be best remembered by the image of Lil Nas X’s silver tush in the background of their photos.

So, while a cockroach might have stolen the spotlight for a few minutes, it’s Lil Nas X who stole the whole show. As iconic Met Gala outfits go, this one will live on in infamy “fur” years to come.

Oh, and in case you have no idea why a Met Gala theme titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” birthed literal cat outfits from Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, and Jared Leto, it has a little something to do with Lagerfeld’s cat — we think.
