In case you thought Democrats were the only people who despised Marjorie Taylor Greene’s far-right, maniacal, generally idiotic antics, look no further than fellow Republican and former U.S. Representative Liz Cheney.
Twitter rants are nothing new for Greene, but her most recent rant involving the alleged Pentagon leaker Airman Jack Teixeira has plummeted her to new depths. Her unnecessarily-lengthy post supporting Teixeira, and blaming the Biden Administration for America’s involvement in the war in Ukraine is reason enough to convince Cheney that Greene is unfit for office and should have her security clearance revoked.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene makes clear yet again that she cannot be trusted with America’s national security information and should not have a security clearance of any kind,” tweeted Cheney.
After incorrectly referring to the alleged leaker as Jake instead of Jack (multiple times), Greene leaned into her far-right ideology by accusing Massachusetts FBI of arresting Teixeira simply because he is “white, male, christian [sic], and antiwar,” which she says “makes him an enemy to the Biden regime.”
“Ask yourself who is the real enemy?” she said in a separate tweet. “A young low level national guardsmen? Or the administration that is waging war in Ukraine, a non-NATO nation, against nuclear Russia without war powers?”
Teixeira is accused of leaking top-secret and sensitive national defense information, which he had access to through his position as a cyberdefense expert. There were reportedly hundreds of classified intelligence information in the leaked documents, all pertaining to the war in Ukraine and American spies.
Unfortunately for Greene, she has become so blinded by her hatred of the “woke” movement that any and all discipline toward someone who is white, Christian, or male (or all three) is a sign of attack from the left. What she fails to understand is that sometimes (most of the time) white, male, Christian men do commit crimes, and just because they are held accountable does not mean the left is coming for you.
At the end of the day, it’s not up to Cheney whether to revoke Greene’s security clearance. The former Representative of Wyoming lost her seat in Congress after Trump-endorsed opponent Harriet Hageman won the House of Representatives election in 2022. As of now, she has little say in what Greene can and cannot do, sadly. However, if Cheney were to run for President in 2024, which she has alluded to, we could very well have a different story on our hands.
For now, Cheney is just one of many Republicans who can’t stand what Greene has done to their political party, and who fear what she and her conspiracy-theorist peers might do should they continue to hold positions of power.
