It’s no secret that Scarlett Johansson is one of the biggest movie stars ever, but just because you’re screamingly successful doesn’t mean you don’t want to work with specific actors. For Johansson, it’s a movie star who’s even more famous than she is.
No, we’re not talking about Tom Hanks, who’s in Asteroid City with her, but it’s a good guess. That actor is Tom Cruise. To be fair, who wouldn’t want to work with Tom Cruise? He could tell you all kinds of cool Scientology secrets, like how the world was seeded by aliens or whatever.
At the premiere of Asteroid City, Johansson told The Hollywood Reporter that she’d “love” to work with the famous actor. Listen, I’m no Hollywood mogul, but putting two of the most bankable movie stars around today in a movie together just seems like a win-win, especially with Cruise’s hot streak after the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick.
In the meantime, Johansson can brag that she worked with possibly the hottest director around (to a certain type of person), Wes Anderson. The whole experience was “unique.”
“His set is so unique because Wes is never worried about time,” Johansson said about working with the director. “He’s never worried about having to get to the next shot or how many shots in a day or what we have or haven’t completed. He really is so present in the moment of the scene work that you’re doing that I think it just allows for such creative freedom because you really can sit in a scene and you have all the time to discover new ways in.”
That sounds fun! Asteroid City releases in New York and Los Angeles on June 16 and everywhere on June 23.
