While Stephen King is very well-known for sharing film and television recommendations to his millions of social media followers, very rarely – if ever – does he veer into the realms of superhero cinema, which makes his ringing endorsement of The Flash all the more fascinating.
Based on how often we’ve been told the Scarlet Speedster’s long-awaited solo debut is destined to go down in the history books as one of the greatest comic book adaptations of the modern age, if it doesn’t instantly secure a reputation as an instant classic, then a lot of people are going to be left crushingly disappointed.
An approval from the horror legend is unexpected enough to create even more intrigue and excitement, though, even if it didn’t take him long to return to his other favorite pastime of sarcastically dragging high-profile Republicans over the hot coals of sarcasm, with a perennially easy target and undisputed Karen of Capitol Hill taking the brunt of his ire yet again.
You can pretty much set your watch to King wading into sociopolitical waters these days, especially when it relates to his repeatedly outspoken desire to increase gun control regulations. It’s not as if the evidence isn’t there to support his opinion, but it’s unfortunately destined to fall on deaf ears given the pearl-clutching coming from one side of the divide whenever it gets brought up in a public forum.
On the plus side, at least he can reminisce about that time he saw The Flash, a sentiment us mere mortals can’t share until the middle of next month.
