The ever-humble Dwayne Johnson now seems to expect flirtation from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary

A love connection?

When you put the words “celebrity” and “humility” together, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Sure, he’s funny, tough, in shape, and a whole mess of other things, but I wouldn’t add “humble” to that list. This is, after all, the same man who single-handedly tried to get Warner Bros. to build a franchise around Black Adam. Now he’s flirting with a dictionary account, because why wouldn’t he be?

The saga started when the official Twitter account for the Merriam-Webster dictionary asked about a word that makes you think of a specific celebrity. “For example, when we hear ‘smackdown,’ we immediately think of @TheRock,” the Twitter account for the dictionary said. Here’s where it gets more fun — Johnson responded.

In a hilariously flirty tone that’s also fairly humility-less, Johnson said he thought Merriam-Webster would say something like “sexy,” which, sure, or “academic,” which I don’t think anyone has ever described him that way, but that’s the joke, I guess.

This gets even better because Merriam-Webster flirted back. Are The Rock and a dictionary about to date for real? Who had this on their 2023 bingo card?

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like flirting to me. When someone calls you a great one, it usually means they want to do something salacious to you. Usually. Of course, Rock fans are ready to let their hero know how they feel about him.

Someone else also loves him.

Of course, Johnson has been married to his second wife Lauren Hashian since 2019, so Merriam-Webster will have to wait until that fizzles out. Not that it will! Just stating some facts.
