The Rock, in lieu of winning awards for his films, is set to give some out himself

Former WWE superstar Dwayne Johnson may not be an Oscar winner, but he’s shifting gears to lay the smackdown at another award show.

If you smell what The Rock is cooking then you’re gonna be watching one of the big award shows this season.

After massive speculation about whether the former wrestling entertainment star turned movie star was going to appear in last week’s Royal Rumble, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made it clear that he is not in wrestling shape. However, today he made it very clear that he is, in fact, in Grammy’s shape. The mega ultra big screen superstar will appear at the 2023 Grammy Awards this Sunday on CBS.

Throughout his WWE wrestling career, the Rock won a multiple awards at the Slammys, which is the WWE non-annual award show, and that clearly makes him eligible to be at the Grammys.

Although we would love to see the Rock drop the people’s elbow on Harry Styles, or lay the smackdown on Coldplay, or slam Bad Bunny’s candy-a** into a Rock Bottom (though unlike the Rock, Bad Bunny did wrestle at last year’s Royal Rumble), we fear that we will have to settle for a non-action appearance by Rocky Maivia, as they used to call him.

Does that mean the Rock will sing at the Grammy’s? Of course not, Jabroni! Though it would be comedy gold if the Rock attempted his own version of Adele’s “Easy On Me” which is nominated for Record of the Year.

So what will his role be then? Well, if you’re the Rock then you gotta “know your role and shut your mouth!” Dwayne likely won’t be belting out any hits — at least in terms of songs — but he will indeed be a presenter at the awards.

He joins a star-studded cast of presenters that include Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, James Corden, Shania Twain, Billy Crystal, Viola Davis, and even the First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. The only two mysteries are who will present which award and will James Corden complain about the food.

Considering his blockbuster acting career, the Rock might prefer to be a nominee at the Oscars instead of a presenter at the Grammy’s but his silver screen appeal will likely not result in receiving a golden statue anytime soon. So, the Grammy’s it is!

Although we don’t know when he will show up on Sunday night in Los Angeles, we think that the Rock presenteing the award for Best Rock Performance would be appropriate.
