Sasha Calle has stepped up into a different ballgame with her homerun as Supergirl in The Flash, if the upcoming “In Development” Supergirl project is giving out positive signals. If her role continues in the DCU, what about bringing along fellow costar from The Young and the Restless Hunter King to take on a significant role in the Supergirl’s life?
Before there was a facility in Siberia to escape and a battle against General Zod to fight, there was simply Sasha Calle, who played Lola Rosales Abbott in 276 episodes of The Young and the Restless from 2018 to 2021. That could be considered the breakout role that got her noticed in Hollywood at least, and right there with her was Hunter King, who played Summer Newman-Abbott in 768 episodes from 2012 to 2022. In fact, Hunter’s character saved Sasha’s life while something else was going on, too.
In the soap opera, Lola and Kyle have a marriage that ends in divorce when he admits that he is not over Summer. When Summer and Kyle eventually get married, he struggles with the fact that he’s still in love with Lola, and an interesting twist still lingers. Lola sports a part of Summer’s liver, because she gave it to her to save her life. What a wonderful world they weave in soap opera land.
Hunter King is known for her roles in A Girl Like Her in 2015, and Life in Pieces from 2015-2019. While one fan imagines her as Poison Ivy in a Batman and Robin film, there is an entirely different direction DC could go, and if her crush has anything to say about it, that would be playing the role of Wonder Woman who happens to be Supergirl’s lover in another reality.
According to CBR, the two superheroes play a powerful lesbian couple in Dark Knights of Steel #2, written by Tom Taylor, Yasmine Putri, Arif Prianto, Wes Abbott. In fact, the story of her going back to her origin in Wonder Woman: Rebirth written by Greg Capullo, Nicola Scott, and Liam Sharpe explores Wonder Woman’s lesbian side in depth. If that were to play out in the movies, Hunter King would make a great Wonder Woman to Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, and the two could save the world by themselves.
One can only hope but for now, fans are simply enjoying her great performance as Supergirl in The Flash with great hopes for the future.
If DC is listening, they’ll keep putting Supergirl in the films they make, no matter what chapter they’re on.
From soap opera love triangle to Superhero stardom, she has a long, rewarding career ahead of her, if her fans have anything to say about it.
Sasha Calle does not make it public business to know her sexuality, so all rumors of her being lesbian can be squashed. However, having a crush on Hunter King, joking or not, does give DC fans hope that there might be a storyline for the two of them in the future.
