In case this information hasn’t made it out of the Swiftverse, Taylor Swift has spent the last few years recording her first six albums after they were sold without her knowledge. The purpose of the recordings is to allow Swift to own her own music.
The most recent of the recordings is Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), initially released in 2010 when she was 21. Her version came out on July 7. This recording marks the third of the recordings but isn’t only the third album that the singer owns.
Here is a complete list of every album that Taylor Swift owns.
Lover
This 2019 album was the first that Swift officially owned her albums after signing a contract with republic records that allowed her to keep her albums. Lover‘s release began with four singles: “ME!,” “The Man,” “Lover,” and “You Need to Calm Down.” The album also included the music video for each of the singles.
Folklore
Folklore was released in the summer of 2020 with Republic Records. It was also the first of Taylor’s albums to be released under the alternative/indie genre. Alongside this album, the singer released the documentary Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions on Disney Plus which features her writing and recording process.
Evermore
Evermore is considered Folklore‘s sister album. It was released the following December with Republic Records. Some Swifties complain that this is Taylor’s least favorite album since it didn’t get as much time or attention during its release as Folklore.
Fearless (Taylor’s Version)
Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was the first of the recordings, released in April of 2021. Alongside old favorites like “Forever & Always (Taylor’s Version)” and “Love Story (Taylor’s Version),” Swift released tracks “from the vault” that she originally wrote for the album but didn’t end up releasing at the time. Vault tracks include “Mr. Perfectly Fine (from the Vault)” and “You All Over Me (from the Vault).”
Red (Taylor’s Version)
Red (Taylor’s Version) was arguably the biggest of the rereleases so far. Released in November of 2021, the album included the long-awaited 10-minute version of “All Too Well,” complete with a short film featuring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. On top of that, Swift released the vault track “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version),” with a music video featuring Miles Teller.
Midnights
Midnights is the most recent of Swift’s original albums. Released with Republic Records in October 2022, the release included three music videos and a “3 AM Version” on top of the thirteen original tracks. It also included features from Lana Del Ray and Ice Spice.
Off course, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is the newest addition to Taylor’s library. The albums she has yet to rerecord include 1989, Taylor Swift, and Reputation.
Though some fans feel that the recordings just aren’t the same, Swifties are very dedicated to streaming the “organically sourced” version of their favorite songs.
