Bud Light’s inclusive new campaign has made the massive beer company behind one of America’s favorite brews a new enemy.

In the wake of several new ads shared by Bud Light, former star and current curiosity Kid Rock lashed out at the brand and Anheuser-Busch, even going so far as to (literally) attack its product. A recent video of the 52-year-old destroying a case of Bud Light with a gun went quickly viral and sparked a wave of questions about what beef Rock has with a beer company.

Why is Kid Rock lashing out at Bud Light?

Kid Rock’s peculiar attack on Bud Light was sparked by a promotion the company recently launched in conjunction with transgender activist and TikToker Dylan Mulvaney. The 26-year-old recently secured a partnership with the company, and her first sponsored post sparked an instant conversation — and plenty of backlash from people of Kid Rock’s ilk.

Rock, and plenty of other transphobic beer drinkers, quickly turned on Bud Light and lashed out at the product in various manners. Any already-purchased cases of Anheuser-Busch products found their way into the trash, and social media was quickly awash with bigoted takeaways and manic whining from salty former Budweiser drinkers.

Rock took a slightly different route, and in the process added a few more sales to Bud’s 2023 earnings. He bought up several cases of Bud Light — the same drink Mulvaney enjoyed in her early April promotion — and did his very best to “send a message” to Anheuser-Busch. An attention-seeking April 3 video sees the controversial singer, MAGA hat in place, take aim at and almost hit a full four cases of Bud Light, before declaring “f*ck Bud Light, and f*ck Anheuser-Busch.”

The 52-year-old certainly made his thoughts on the matter clear, but it doesn’t seem many people are listening. He’s been veering further and further to the right in recent years, so few people are surprised to see Rock pull another eye-roll-inducing stunt like this. At the end of the day, he put more cash in Anheuser-Busch’s accounts, by buying up those cases of beer, and his protest doesn’t seem to have convinced anyone. We’ll happily enjoy our Bud Light — and Mulvaney’s promotional videos — while Rock sulks and sips on some PBR.
