There’s reportedly always been disagreements and tussles around the figures. Costner initially offered to pay approximately $51,000 which was vehemently disagreed upon by his ex-wife who went on to deem this payment as “completely inappropriate,” further adding that it was a ploy by the actor to ensure that his children lived with limited means when they stay with their mother.

According to TMZ, Baumgartner then appealed for a higher childcare settlement amount which stood at $248,000 per month. Costner outrightly rejected the demand and the actor suggested that Baumgartner’s intention was not to use the demanded amount exclusively for childcare. A significant amount that is, approximately $100,000 was meant for her personal use, such as cosmetic surgery.

Aside from the chaos surrounding the divorce settlement, the current amount that will be paid as child care has found a midway between Costner and Baumgartner’s demands.

With the ongoing discussions around the pair’s divorce settlements, people have also found a way to revisit their relationship. Costner and Baumgartner married in 2004 after the former’s divorce from Cindy Costner and stayed married for 18 years, after which Baumgartner announced their decision to separate on April 11, 2023.

No specific reason was revealed and ‘irreconcilable differences’ was cited by Christine as the cause of their breakup. The pair who share three children filed for divorce on May 1, and each will be contributing 50 percent to their children’s upbringing which includes health, and education.
