There is almost no point in trying to predict the words that come out of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s mouth, but that doesn’t stop them from being any less baffling. The latest word salad to escape the U.S. Representative’s pipe hole just happens to be a humble comparison between the twice impeached, first-indicted former president of the United States, Donald Trump and the son of God himself, Jesus Christ. Yes, we’re serious.
Ahead of Trump’s historic arraignment at the Manhattan Criminal Court today, Greene hopped on a plane from Capitol Hill to New York City to protest the former president’s indictment. While sitting down with far-right media outlet Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) Greene addressed this historic moment in history, but not in the way you might expect. (Or maybe you would).
To Greene, Trump’s arrest means he is “joining some of the most incredible people in history.” People like Nelson Mandela and Jesus Christ, to be exact.
It’s worth noting that neither Mandela nor Jesus chronically abused their power the way Trump has during his political tenure, or paid hush money to a porn star for that matter. They never tried to undermine and overturn a legitimate democratic election, incite an insurrection, pressure foreign governments into helping their reelection campaigns, nor been indicted of criminal charges relating to tax fraud. To name just a few.
Greene has long followed Trump to the ends of the earth, but if there were ever hopes that she would one day see the light, that hope is now gone. You don’t just come back from calling someone Jesus Christ. She’s long gone, but then again we already knew that.
