The MCU has made countless spot-on castings, with so many of Marvel’s heroes brought to life by the only actors we can now imagine in their roles. But, honestly, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan is perfect casting on a whole other level.
As we discovered when the young actress spent the entire Ms. Marvel press tour complaining that the MCU’s universe is Earth-199999 not Earth-616, she is the Avengers’ biggest fangirl both on screen and off. Vellani will of course be back as Kamala for her first movie outing in November’s The Marvels, which will see the teen heroine team up with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and her idol, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), for the first time.
Can’t wait to see these characters together in the film? Well, then, you’re in luck, as this resurfaced TikTok video of Larson and Vellani visiting Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris in 2022 perfectly replicates Carol and Kamala’s mentor/mentee relationship… only with Larson being a lot more smiley and bubbly than Carol.
Following the two actresses after they’ve just exited the ride and are visiting the gift shop, the video captures the hilarious moment when Larson realizes Vellani was so thrilled by the experience that she missed her own character’s role in the attraction. True to form, Iman admits she was too “distracted by Iron Man.” As her fans may know, the 21-year-old star’s favorite Avenger in real life is Tony Stark, not Carol.
Despite the sadly dispiriting box office projections, there are reams of reasons to be hyped for The Marvels, and the clear chemistry between its leads is right at the top of the list.
