Thanks to the one-two punch of all-conquering action comedy series FUBAR and the self-titled docuseries, Netflix has been ushering in an Arnold Schwarzenegger renaissance of sorts, with the iconic action hero almost everywhere you look these days.
As a result, he’s been hitting the press trail with a vengeance, throwing out countless soundbites that you can’t help but read in your head using his unmistakable accent. However, misquoting the Austrian Oak isn’t a task that should be taken on lightly, especially when he’s both reflecting on what happens when we die, and keeping a watchful eye on his social media accounts.
Funnily enough, the former Governor of California didn’t hold back when some misinformation began making the rounds, with Schwarzenegger shaming the perpetrators ahead of Twitter adding a context disclaimer as a result.
In addition, Schwarzenegger then added a further explanation in the original, which was conducted alongside longtime friend and fellow mischief-maker Danny DeVito for Interview magazine.
“I said, “We don’t know what happens with the soul and all this spiritual stuff that I’m not an expert in, but I know that the body as we see each other now, we will never see each other again like that. Except in some fantasy. When people talk about, “I will see them again in heaven,” it sounds so good, but the reality is that we won’t see each other again after we’re gone. That’s the sad part. I know people feel comfortable with death, but I don’t.”
In short, the Terminator star did not say that nothing happens when the timer on life runs out, and he’s furious at anyone even daring to suggest otherwise.
