Very few people on this planet would consider Piers Morgan a stable person, and a recent interview on the 58-year-old’s TalkTV show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, is reinforcing just how juvenile he really is.
To be fair, he’s no more infantile than the TikToker he interviewed, who’s been making headlines — including one of our own — following a string of reckless and potentially dangerous stunts. TikTokers, and clout-seekers in general, have long courted controversy, drama, and potential harm for the sake of likes, and Mizzy is just the latest.
In a segment on his show, reporting on TikTok’s recent string of pranksters, Morgan confronted Mizzy about his recent behavior, and the discussion quickly devolved into childish arguing. Considering Mizzy’s recent ascension to adulthood — the TikToker is a fresh-faced 18-year-old — and Morgan’s longstanding presence in media — and supposed maturity — the discussion (if you can call it that) is all the more baffling. Morgan manages to keep his cool for a record 60 seconds before devolving into a bicker fest with the contentious TikToker.
It’s hard to tell if Mizzy is purposefully imitating Morgan’s combative interview style, as the pair cut one another off with echoed demands to “wait a minute” and drown out one another’s attempts to control the narrative. After several exhausting minutes of watching the two bicker like children, Mizzy explains the motivation behind his controversial videos — spoiler alert, it’s pretty much “do it for the Vine” — and the pair exchange the heartwarming sentiment that both halves of the interview consider one another idiots.
In a brief moment of calm, Mizzy did explain that he feels remorse for at least some of his recent stunts. The viral “walking into people’s houses” prank, which saw him saunter into a family’s home uninvited, was a sticking point for the TikToker, who noted the inappropriate nature of the prank and admitted his “ego got ahold” of him. He also stressed that, in the wake of the incident, he apologized to the woman heard briefly in the video.
Morgan and Mizzy seem like a match made in heaven, with all the childish bickering that dominates the nearly 12-minute clip. Their playground antics are almost perfectly on-par, despite Morgan’s attempts to get the interview back on track, as they trade barbs and utterly refuse to give each other an inch.
The interview is infuriating, and a little bit hilarious, but accomplishes exactly nothing, thanks to its utterly unhinged nature. By the time it concludes, after an exhausting stretch of time, both parties are clearly done with one another — but not nearly so done as we are with them both.
