While bloodthirsty fanboys will forever continue the DC vs. Marvel debate, the fact of the matter is that there are many of us who enjoy stories released by both publishers. Furthermore, it’s important we not overlook that countless talented writers and artists have switched sides throughout their illustrious careers. Heck, even John Romita Jr. made the jump to DC a few years back.
On that note, another name normally associated with the House of Ideas has made a similar shocking career move. Truth be told, we all figured the day would come when Brian Michael Bendis would write for DC, but we never knew when that’d be.
Well, with a single Tweet that rocked the industry, DC announced that Bendis has signed an exclusive deal with them that’ll span multiple years, thereby allowing the co-creator of characters such as Miles Morales and Jessica Jones access to their pantheon of heroes and villains.

And if you were still in a state of doubt, Bendis himself followed up with a Tweet of his own.
This is real. I love you all. Change is good. Change is healthy. I am bursting with ideas and inspirations. Details to come! Stay tuned! https://t.co/S1x5JDmGTt

From that, we can deduce they haven’t worked out which book(s) he’ll start out on, but smart money says that the same guy who had such successful runs on titles like New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and All-New X-Men will be assigned to a top tier series. Thus, we wouldn’t be all that surprised if he’s given the keys to either a Batman book or Justice League before long.
Now that we think about it, it’s probably a near certainty that DC will allow Bendis to pen a major crossover event for them in the not too distant future, just as he did with Marvel on numerous occasions. That said, we advise you not hold your breath until after Doomsday Clock has a chance to wrap.
