Halo 5: Guardians‘ new and improved version of Infection is due to launch alongside the game’s free Memories Of Reach update due before the end of May, and 343 Industries’ has now provided some new information on the changes being made to the fan-inspired, zombie-themed multiplayer favorite.
Speaking exclusively to Game Informer, the video features the studio’s community manager John Junyszek and multiplayer engineer Geoff Landskov detailing the subtle tweaks being made, which includes removing the pistol as a starting weapon for human players, instead having the shotgun as the starting firearm. Balancing the power struggle between human and infected players has been a primary focus this time around, the video states.
Chiefly, the latter team will have access to the thruster ability to close the gap between them and their prey faster, a faster walk speed and the ability to jump higher than usual, which will come at the cost of having their sprint ability disabled.
Infection will continue to see support in future updates, and may even see elements of its mode featured in other playlists. That’s all just the tip of the iceberg though.
