A substantial price cut for all Nintendo 2DS systems is due to take effect starting May 20, slashing the current RRP from $100 to just $80. Originally launched in 2013 as a cheaper alternative for those not interested in the 3D capabilities of the 3DS, the budget handheld has enjoyed a similar amount of popularity as its brother, with both having reached combined sales of over 58 million units.
Along with the price cut announcement, various games in the Nintendo Selects series are being sold off at $19.99 each, including The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D, Yoshi’s New Island and Mario Party: Island Tour.
Finally, two new titles – Style Savvy: Fashion Forward and Disney Magical World 2 – were announced and are due to launch in North America on August 19 and October 14 respectively. Both games are aimed at a younger audience, the former being a fashion-focused adventure that encourages players to dress and customize their avatars in thousands of different clothes options and also features Amiibo support.
Magical World 2 – a life simulation title – is the sequel to the 2014 original and features various in-game activities such as fishing and gardening, with the added bonus of some patented Disney Magic.
Nintendo‘s newest platform, the NX, is rumored to be a handheld/home console hybrid, and launches in March 2017.
