Bloodborne brought about early talks as a likely Game of the Year contender. After earning the game’s platinum trophy, however, few people remember the savagery they unleashed on the demented beasts of Yharnam. With Bloodborne: The Old Hunters, From Software offers players another chance to master their fears.
Fans won’t need to search wikis for ways to access Bloodborne: The Old Hunters, either. Unlike Dark Souls II’s DLC, which deposited a key item in the character’s inventory and asked you to follow obtuse clues, Sony outlined the procedures for uncovering Bloodborne’s new content:
- Defeat the boss of the Cathedral Ward and examine the altar in the back of the room to change the in-game time to night.
- Go to the Hunter’s Dream and receive the Eye of a Blood-drunk Hunter from a messenger.
- Go to the Oedon Chapel and leave via the left-hand exit to enter the square.
- Go to the right-hand end of the square to trigger an event. This event will take you to the new area: the Hunter’s Nightmare.
Of course, lighting the area’s lamp will allow adventurers to travel to and from the Hunter’s Nightmare, where untold horrors await. Although Sony and From Software have kept most of the expansion’s secrets under wraps, producer Masaaki Yamagiwa let slip one of the evils that daredevils must face:
Brador, seen donning the scalp and horns of a foul beast, is an ancient Hunter and assassin once employed by the Healing Church who sits in a dark cell, waiting for something—or someone—with bell in hand.
Brador’s weapon of choice is the Bloodletter, whose true form unlocks when players jab it into their chests. A bit on the nose where names are concerned, but fans will recall Logarius’s Wheel demanding a similar health sacrifice.
So, will you revisit Yharnam and solve the mystery of the legendary hunters? Can you escape their nightmares? Let us know below.
Bloodborne: The Old Hunters costs $19.99 and ships on PlayStation 4s everywhere Tuesday, November 24.
