A trademark for an Alan Wake‘s Return has been spotted online by an eagle-eyed user on NeoGAF, but is it actually an indication of anything of importance?

The listing is rather bare-bones, so it could simply be a placeholder for a future project and not an actual title for an Alan Wake sequel. It should also be noted that the trademark has yet to be authorized.

With that said though, a domain name of the same name was registered last year by Network Solutions LLC, the same representative that developer of the first game Remedy Entertainment used for other registered domains, according to VG247.

If the listings areĀ early signs that Remedy is planning a new adventure for Alan Wake, we could be waiting a while for the sequel to materialize. The developer is currently focused on releasing Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break, which is due to release in April.

For those not familiar with the last-generation psychological survival horror title, Alan Wake follows the game’s titular character’s efforts to find his missing wife after a dark force starts warping the world around him.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare – a spinoff of sorts – was released for Xbox 360 and PC in 2012, but the series has gone silent ever since. Who knows, Alan Wake‘s Return could very well be Remedy’s next game. We’ll just have to wait and see.
