It looks like gamers are still – despite annual releases and the bugs that plagued last year’s Unity – happy to lap up anything relating to the eternal struggle between Assassin and Templar. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate has topped the UK sales charts after its first week on sale, but despite the game’s apparent success, there’ll certainly be some alarm bells ringing at Ubisoft headquarters.
GFK Chart-track, which reviews and compiles sales data on a weekly basis, has said that Syndicate has easily surpassed the sales numbers of last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, but that its “launch falls short of surpassing any of the other major entries in the famous series.”
With no other major releases last week to rival Syndicate, one could argue that its had a relatively easy ride to the top of the charts. However, with Halo 5: Guardians releasing tomorrow, Ubisoft’s latest is about to face some stiff competition to retain its top spot.
