Assassin’s Creed: Unity had an impressive debut in the UK charts after Ubisoft’s Parisian adventure entered the standings in second place, missing out on the top spot by a mere 16,000 copies, according to retail analyst Chart-Track.

As expected, that top spot was occupied by Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare again this week, with Sledgehammer Games’ first-person shooter marking its second consecutive week at number one despite a 77% drop in sales.

Here’s this week’s comprehensive top ten, courtesy of GfK:

1) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
2) Assassin’s Creed: Unity
3) Halo: The Master Chief Collection
4) FIFA 15
5) Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
6) Assassin’s Creed: Rogue
7) Minecraft: Playstation Edition
8) Pro Evolution Soccer 2015
9) World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor
10) Destiny

Ubisoft’s other entry into the historical franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue entered at sixth place and while the last-gen title launched to a significantly higher install base across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it was Unity that ultimately proved more popular in the UK charts. Interestingly, sales for the two Assassin titles combined would have outsold Advanced Warfare on this particular occasion.

Joining Assassin’s Creed: Unity on the list of newcomers this week were Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which debuted at third and fifth, respectively. In fact, the former title proved to be the best-selling Xbox One title published by Microsoft to date. Further down the charts and we have Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 and World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor at eighth and ninth. It’s worth noting that Chart-Track doesn’t record digital sales on any platform, and it’s likely that a significant portion of WoW users purchased the MMO’s latest expansion online.

Looking ahead to this week and we have yet another big entry from Ubisoft in the form of Far Cry 4, with Dragon Age: Inquisition also catching the attention of RPG fans across the gaming community. But can either title overthrow Advanced Warfare? Time will tell.
