Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch for a year before being available on other platforms, according to the latest round of rumors and leaks. As per noted Nintendo tipster Laura Kate Dale (via VG247), Ubisoft’s sequel to the 2003 original will launch first on the upcoming console in both digital and physical forms before making the jump to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 12 months later as a digital-only release.
After spending several years in development hell, series creator Michel Ancel confirmed last year that the game is in development by way of several pieces of concept art (one of which you can see above), but stopped short of providing release date or platform details. According to Dale, the project is currently in development under the code name of Odyssey, with a teaser having already been prepped for imminent release.
Dale believes the teaser, presumably some sort of trailer, will be shown next week during Nintendo’s big Switch press event, which is expected to spill the beans on the device’s specifications as well as its launch line-up. While many of Dale’s previous leaks have ultimately proven to be true, you should take all of the above with a grain of salt until proven otherwise. Either way, we won’t have to wait long to find out the truth – Nintendo’s big presser is scheduled to kick off on January 12 (January 13 in the UK) as part of a live event in Tokyo.
We’ll be on-hand to cover all of the details that trickle out of the presentation as they come to us, so be sure to check back next Thursday.
