Blizzard’s aiming to shake things up this week for players of its popular card game Hearthstone. Starting from this Wednesday, October 19, players will be able to participate in the Heroic Tavern Brawl – a new mode that replaces the usual ‘for fun’ Brawl with a high stakes, winner-takes-all competition that requires a hefty entrance fee to even compete.
As with normal Tavern Brawls, this particular Heroic offering will only be available from Wednesday to the following Monday, but that’s where the similarities end.
To gain entry, players are required to front a $10 or 1000 Gold fee at the door, after which you’ll be required to make your own 30-card deck using only those currently usable in Standard Mode. As with Hearthstone‘s existing Arena playlist, once you’ve built and finalized your deck, you can make no further changes, so you might want to test the waters with it in Practice before you hit that confirm button.
Your goal is to reach the maximum of 12 wins without losing more than two. Three losses will eliminate you from your current run, and you’ll be rewarded depending on how high you managed to climb.
Go flawless though, and you’ll be showered with riches. 50 card packs, 1095 Dust, 1105 Gold and Three golden Legendary cards are what await Hearthstone’s very best players. In contrast, notching three losses and no wins on your scorecard will net you a paltry one card pack and nothing else.
Blizzard just recently released a patch for Hearthstone that ushered in various nerfs for existing cards in the name of balance. The latest card expansion – One Night In Karazhan – released back in August, and you can see the launch trailer below.
