Yeah, you read that correctly; Bungie have recruited the services of High Moon Studios to help them develop Destiny in the future and beyond. We know this because a job listing has been spotted over on High Moon Studios’ careers page detailing an open position for a ‘Mission Designer’ to work on Bungie’s hybrid shooter/MMO game.
The news isn’t so much bizarre as it is curious. High Moon Studios is primarily known for developing the generally well-received Transfomers: War For Cybertron and Fall Of Cybertron. Considering both are third-person shooters focused largely on linear level design, the partnership quite rightly raises some eyebrows.
Destiny has often faced criticism for not offering enough variation in its core mechanics, and while its gun play is undoubtedly brilliant, the same can’t always be said for its often bland mission structure that, more often that not, involves wading through droves of enemy fodder to take on a bullet sponge boss at the end of it. The involvement of a new set of eyes with High Moon Studios could do wonders for Destiny, but we’ll just have to wait and see the fruits of both developer’s labour.
We’ll keep you updated on any developments on the partnership, but what are your thoughts on such an unexpected coupling? Let us know in the comments below.
