Call Of Duty: Ghosts’ Campaign Is Only Four And A Half Hours Long

It seems as if Call of Duty: Ghosts is following in the footsteps of Battlefield 4, at least when it comes to the single player campaign. Like EA's powerhouse FPS, Activision's upcoming shooter will include a campaign but it will be extremely short. In Battlefield 4, most gamers are reporting 4 hours total to finish up the single player portion. With Ghosts, those who already have their hands on the game are stating that it took them only 4.5 hours to knock out the campaign on the regular difficulty.

It seems as if Call of Duty: Ghosts is following in the footsteps of Battlefield 4, at least when it comes to the single player campaign. Like EA’s powerhouse FPS, Activision’s upcoming shooter will include a campaign but it will be extremely short. In Battlefield 4, most gamers are reporting 4 hours total to finish up the single player portion. With Ghosts, those who already have their hands on the game are stating that it took them only 4.5 hours to knock out the campaign on the regular difficulty.

Now, no one expects a Call of Duty game to come with a 20 hour campaign, but 4.5 hours is pretty short, and by far the shortest of any entry into the series. That being said, this seems to be the norm these days in online-focused FPS titles and you can bet that future entires into the genre will no doubt follow this trend.

Admittedly, I suppose I would prefer a really tight, action-packed 4.5 hour campaign as opposed to a fluffy 8 hour campaign with a lot of filler in it. Unfortunately though, from what we’re hearing, what’s included in the single player portion isn’t even all that exciting.

Of course, most of you are probably picking up this title for the online component and I bet that at least half the people who play Call of Duty: Ghosts won’t even get around to the campaign until a few months after purchasing it, if at all. Most people just don’t care to spend time with single player in a Call of Duty game.

While I can’t exactly blame the developers for making a decision like this, it still is a bit disappointing. The campaigns in Call of Duty games are always exciting and a ton of fun to play through, even if they aren’t the main event. It’s unfortunate that we won’t have much of a story mode to spend time with.

Oh well, if nothing else, at least it will make my job of reviewing Call of Duty: Ghosts a bit easier. On that note, be sure to check back in a few days for our full review on the game as we’re currently working on it.
